Sex Therapy in Virginia
IT’S TIME TO REDISCOVER JOY.
Ginny Puckett, LPC
What if you believed you were deserving?
Deserving of fulfillment, of meaningful connection, of pleasure?
Lean into the empowerment that comes from this self-belief and imagine tearing down the barriers in your way.
You're someone who has a hard time asking for help so you've put this off for a while, but now you’re starting to worry things will always be this way. It often seems like everyone else has it all figured out, while you've grown accustomed to feeling unfulfilled and disconnected.
You’ve found your way here because you’re tired of worrying that you’re missing out on what life has to offer. You’re looking for a space where you can explore all parts of yourself in a light of acceptance, so that you can finally create long-lasting change.
You’re in the right spot.
How I work
I show up to our sessions as a fellow human.
In therapy, we’ll work together to break down the barriers that hold you back from the fulfillment you deserve. My clients often already have insight to their problems and they need a trusted guide to help them highlight the blind spots that are keeping them stuck. I believe that you are the expert on your life and that my role is to support you in moving toward a better sense of self. I am an includer at heart and I work well with 'othered' populations. During our work I will encourage you to be your most authentic self, and I model the same in session through humor, compassion, and a gentle but direct approach. I play an active role in therapy by offering feedback and direction to help you move towards the changes you want in your life.
My hope is to empower my clients to have the lives and relationships they want, and to provide a space to heal the wounds that may be holding them back. I do this by sharing my own human-ness and reminding you of yours. My ongoing clients know that we celebrate wins together with no judgment toward how small they are. I am honored to do this work and enjoy being a part of the journey.
Therapy with me is…
Sex-positive
I believe that consensual sexual activity is fundamentally healthy and I understand that sexual expression and experience is diverse. I won’t pathologize your sexual interests or your alternative lifestyle.
Trauma-informed
My approach is trauma-informed, which is beneficial to you even if you have not experienced trauma. This means I’ll consider the bigger picture of what is impacting you today when tailoring our work together.
Neuro-affirming
As a fellow neurospicy individual myself, I enjoy helping neurodivergent folx expand beyond the neurotypical box they’ve been trying to fit in throughout life. This usually begins with gaining a better understanding of how your brain works and what that means for you socially, occupationally, intimately, etc.
my guiding principles
AUTHENTICITY
I create a space where you can be open about all facets of your identity, just as I commit to being real and genuine in my interactions with you.
UNCONDITIONAL SUPPORT
Regardless of the issues we tackle together, you’ll experience absolute support here throughout every step.
COLLABORATION
Therapy with me is a collaborative process. We’ll explore your goals together and I’ll check in with you along the way, making sure that the steps we take are rooted in what you truly want to achieve.
CULTURAL HUMILITY
I am aware that I’m not always aware.
I hold multiple privileged identities and I am committed to a life-long process of self-reflection and self-critique to confront how my power and privileges impact my work and the broader systems I navigate.
I aim to adapt therapy to your cultural context and I openly engage in dialogue about diverse experiences.
